Scan resources

Date: 2026-05-14. Status: external references for scanner research, not production dependencies.

This page collects public references that can inform scanner architecture, bulk-capture UX, dataset sourcing, and matching tradeoffs. Treat these links as research inputs. Anything that becomes part of SKN still needs a source, license, terms, and coverage review before production use.

Community examples

  • I built a bulk Pokemon card scanner - React Native / Deckmate thread about single-card and bulk binder-page scanning. Useful notes: card-placement segmentation, image hashing after detection, data-source choices such as Pokemon TCG API and TCGdex, and future OCR needs for set icons or variants.
  • A Fun Programming Project - The Pokemon Card Detector and Price Projector - older Python prototype for scanning multiple Pokemon cards from live video, matching with pHash, and projecting prices. Useful as a historical baseline for multi-card detection, pHash limits, and pricing overlays.

Data and API references

  • PokemonTCG GitHub organization - Pokemon TCG API, data, docs, and SDK repositories, including pokemon-tcg-data. Useful as a catalog/API comparison point; verify license, terms, image rights, and set coverage before relying on it beyond research.

Usage rules

  • Do not treat Reddit posts as authoritative implementation specs.
  • Extract useful ideas into scan cases, tests, issues, or architecture notes before building from them.
  • Keep licensing and redistribution constraints visible when a resource involves card images, datasets, or pricing data.
